The Company - Petranura Danza

The Megakles Ballet Cultural Association borns in 1997 with artistic direction by Laura Odierna and Salvatore Romania and generates a working group called "Petranura dance". In 2008, it presents "Installation", co-produced with CZD , at UVA grapes Contemporary Dance Festival organized by Teatro Massimo Bellini in collaboration with Scenario Pubblico in Catania. In 2009 it participates at the winter season of Scenario Pubblico and presents a first  International performance: "The lemon tree" co-produced with CZD.  In December 2009 the company was selected to participate at GALA WDA (World Dance  Alliance Europe) international project "AAA CHOREOGRAPHERS WANTED" held on 26 February 2010 in Florence, DANZA IN FIERA, winning first trophy as best choreography and the two Choreographers S. Romania and L. Odierna win a residence of three weeks, to create a new choreographic work that will debut in July 2010 at Tsyoing theater in Taiwan. PetrAnUrA name borns from the Sicilian vocabolary “bare rock” and symbolically it evokes the magmatic action of the volcano Etna, strength appallingly destructive yet also extraordinarily generous, capable of giving new "Petranura" to change and to continuously renew its appearance.  Laura and Salvatore collaborate for several years in search of movement as Dynamic expression and communicative.Socially engaged in the dissemination of contemporary dance, the two choreographers love to speake about  the unspeakable power of evocation of body language, which is why the traits that characterize their work are precise, demanding, but also burning, with a body manipulated, thrown to the ground, caressed, experienced in every detail, never divorced from the context of dramatic thin importance evocative and emotional impact.  Among the most significant projects presented at prestigious festivals as "The island"at Athena Summer Festival (Greece), “Taormina arte 1997”",Baroque" International Festival of Baroque city of Militello, "Gioco-co" Choreographic Danzaria Review, Teatro Giuditta Pasta di Saronno, the biennale Dance festival in Veniceand the Dreamtime Festival in Milano.

Salvatore Romania was born in 1972 in Catania , Sicily, where he received his early dance training. In Rome he studied ballet with George Bodnarciuc and contemporary dance with Patrick King and Sacha Ramos. He also attended a number or training programs in Italy and abroad. In 2000-2003 he has danced as a soloist for Astra Roma Ballet, directed by Diana Ferrara, performing works by Loris Petrillo, Paolo Movic and Marcia Plein. He has performed within Italy, Germany, Hungary, Greece and Switzerland. Since 2005 collaborates with Zappalà Dance Company in the realization of many different productions. He has taught contemporary dance classes and workshops within his dance center and for Zappalà Dance School. In february 2010 he wins with Laura Odierna the International Coreographer Competition “A.A.A. CERCASI COREOGRAFO WDA EUROPE ITI/UNESCO” and, after winning the first prize at this international contest, the two coreographers stayed three weeks in residence in Taiwan for a new coreographic creation that took place at Tsyoing Theatre in Kaoh- Siung town. In may 2010 Ismael Ivo, director of “ Biennale of Venice, has selected the same coreography in order to be rapresented during the “ Marathon of Unexpected 2010 ” a review of Venice's Arsenal. He recently begun his work as choreographer and he is currently collaborating with the coreographer Laura Odierna.

Laura Odierna was born in 1965 in Catania , Sicily, where she received his early dance training. She was born in Messina in 1986. She studies ballet, modern – jazz and contemporary dance at “Istituto Regionale della Danza” (Messina). She enters by selections in the professional course of MAS - Music, Arts and Show directed by Susanna Beltrami (Milano, 2004) and in 2008 she’s selected to join Modem - Studio Atelier, professional cours and young company of “Compagnia Zappalà Danza”, directed by Roberto Zappalà (Catania). She’s a dancer in the musicals “Il Gatto con gli Stivali” (Messina, 2004) and “Gli Aristocratici gatti” (Messina, 2006). With Modem group she’s dancer for the choreographers: L. Petrillo, M. Mualem, G. De Filippis, R. Zappalà and M. Moles. She dances in the production “L’albero di limoni” with “Compagnia Petranura Danza” directed by L. Odierna and S. Romania (Lentini, SR, 2009). In the same year she’s intern dancer for “Compagnia Zappalà Danza” in the production Cage Sculpture Lab.(Pergine Valsugana, TN). She cooperates with “Compagnia Balletto di Messina” as choreographer and dancer.From April 2010 she worked with Petranura dance Company . She danced in the international exhibition for the Venice Biennial 2010, "Studies of Ma-Scialai" choreography short time of S. Romania and L. Odierna. Currently with the same company she is working on several projects.

She was born in 1987. She started to study dance in 1994 at “Tersicore” in Lentini and attended the professional course at “Megakle Ballet” in Lentini, under the direction of L. Odierna e S. Romania. She participated to many their coreographic project. In 2006 and 2007 she attende further training of contemporary dance “Uva Grapes”in Scenario Pubblico in Catania directed by R.Zappalà. In January 2008 she partecipated to the coreographic project”Installazioni” and in in 2009 “L'albero di limoni”, direction and coreographi of S. Romania and L. Odierna. She danced in the international exhibition for the Venice Biennial 2010, "Studies of Ma-Scialai" choreography short time of S. Romania and L. Odierna. Actually she take part in the new choreographic project to the Petranura Danza Company.

Borned in Roma the 26th april 1988, he began his first dance studies at the Centro Ballet in Ostia. From 2004 to 2007 he attended the Pofessional Formation Course at the International Center Opus Ballet, starting the collaboration with the young company for "progetto RR", coreography by Rosanna Brocanello and Samuele Cardini. In 2007, he attended the Modem Studio Atelier, the Compagnia Zappalà Danza formation with daily ballet, contemporary and ateliers classes. In january 2008 he took part at the creation "Installazioni", coreographed by Salvatore Romania and Laura Odierna, with reprise for Uva Grapes Festival in august. In march 2009, under the same direction, he performed "L'albero di Limoni". From november 2008, he collaborates with the Compagnia Zappalà Danza, with role revival "Instruments 1 - scoprire l'invisibile" and "Romeo e Giulietta". He takes parts to the creations "A. Semu Tutti Devoti Tutti?", "Cage Sculpture" and "Insturments 3 -L'insostenibile pesantezza dell'essere", coreographed by Roberto Zappalà.

Borned in Zaragoza (Spain), the 26th March 1984. He started his first studies of Spanish Dance in different accademies in Almeria (Spain). From 2001 until 2005 he is chosen by the specialising training course of C.A.D. in Sevilla (Spain), directed by Ramón Oller and Pilar Pérez Calvete. In 2005 he joined the Young Company Formation Coline in Istres (France). In 2006 he attended Modem Studio Atelier. Specialising Course of Roberto Zappala's Company with daily ballet, contemporary and Laboratory Class. In January 2008 he partecipated at the creation Istallazioni coreographed by Salvatore Romania and Laura Odierna, with revivals during the Uva Grapes Festival in July 2008 and for Scenario Pubblico Theater in 2009 with L'albero dei Limoni. In the same year he collaborated with Zappala's Company with role revival in Instrument 1 - Scoprire l'Invisibile , Foulplay, Zappalà Loop and Ragout and for the creations: A. Semu Tutti Devoti Tutti?, Cage Sculpture and Instrument 3- L'insostenibile pesantezza dell'essere.
